Love In The Dumpsite
We met for the first time at the site
You collecting paper bags and i plastics
Our eyes met and it was love at first sight
On our way home we lit the match sticks
We had no candles nor torch for light
But our hearts shone like red lip sticks
For it was love that was more than love
In my makeshift house we made dinner
And spread the jerry cans cum tables
Not even the foul smell of the litters
In the dumpsite outside could stop us
Collecting plastics daily became our life
They talked about us e'ry where we passed
They wished they could love with love that
Was more than ours, even those with cars
Jealousy made them snatch you from me
In the rehab they claimed that you were mad
Not knowing you were mad for me and my love
Oh Nasibo,come back to me.
Bring back my love to the site
Where we fell in love at first sight.
This is a really nice poem. Well enjambed to probably reflect the spontaneity of the shared emotions. I love how the Caesura brings about the pause, somehow portrays the juxtapose of the two lives; the jealous and the persona’s.
