The Plight of the Boy Child

An endangered species is what this precious person has become or rather has the society made made him.During the hay days,bearing a boy child made the poor of the poor have a voice among men.This was so because the boy was entrusted with ensuring the posterity and the prosperity of one's lineage and hence the community at large.Bearing a son was such a prestigious momentus that made the parents of girls' become a laughing stock.So much that a husband would divorce a wife who would bear him no sons or marry a second,a third,a fourth....until he would get a son.Sarah in the Bible would cry her heart out asking God to bless her with a child,and not just a child but a boy child.This barely highlights how important this endangered species was considered important then.
Time changes and we should change with it lest it changes us.Over the time,the girl child after being neglected by the society for a long time,downtrodden countless times,objectified both physically and sexually,she decided that she no longer would remain being a person whose place was only in the kitchen and the bed- a cook for men and a sexual object which men could enjoy anywhere and anyhow-.She became tired of being viewed as a lesser human being.A man's property.Infact,men in my community,when counting the herds of cattle they owned and flock of sheep,they would also count their wives.Tired of all these transgressions,the girl decided to show the boy that she was not any different from him and that she could even outperform her in fields such as education.
Men and women of goodwill joined hands to save the girl child from sinking into abyss of being forgotten by the society and remaining doomed forever.Organizations-both governmental and non-governmental-were formed to salvage the girl child.Fortunaty,their efforts did not go unrewarded because the girl child has a voice among men in today's society.She put much efforts and climbed the social ladder and she now sits at the top of the society.This is the reason we have female doctors,engineers,politicians and any other prestigious career you can think of.They even sang and asked 'who runs the world?' and in unison they all answered that 'the girls do'.This is something good though since it is said that if you educate a girl,you uplift the whole society.
My problem now comes with how events have turned out.In uplifting the girl child,the boy child became TOTALLY forgotten.Forgotten by his parents,his friends and his society.Fogotten because everyone was busy fighting for the girl at the expense of the boy child and before they realised that She was now fine and she needed not much help because she had stood on her feet the boy child was on the ground crawling.Crawling because the fierce pangs of life had damaged his hands and feet.His soul had long been imprisoned and his conscience was long dead.Drugs,alcohol,sexual immorality,spiritual dwarfness among others were all smiling at having made him fall.The society instead of trying to save him from being totally damaged,it condemned him.This in turn worsened the situation.
Call an impromptu visit on any family you want to and conduct a quick survey and compare the boys and girls bred and raised in that family.In many a case you will find that the girls are much educated,hold several post-graduate degrees while their brother is the king of liquor in the local pub.When the brewing company wants to test their latest brand of their killer liquors,it is him who gets the first taste of it.And if it is not her brother,then her dad will.The boy child has become a bug not only to his family but his society.To meet the costly demands of remaining a drunkard,he is forced to steal.After stealing,he is caught by the long arm of the government and arraigned in court.The judge sentences him to life imprisonment.As if that is not enough,a sexually starved male inmate awaits him and turns him into a 'wife' in the prison.The boy child loses.
Just the other day we celebrated the day of the girl and as soon as i saw #DayoftheGirl trending on Twitter,i rushed to consult my uncle Google to know when we would celebrate #DayoftheBoy.To my utter disbelief,no Such a thing exists in our calenders.This shows you how taken for granted the boy has been.This is the reason we have women living lives to their fullest,they say living lavishly but they cannot find men manly enough to marry them.What will hold such a woman off from marrying a fellow woman who is as classy as her? If not that,she will look for a 'seed' donor,get her pregnant and forget the idea of marriage alltogether.We are almost hitting that point prophet Isaiah prophesied,-and seven women will get hold of one man and beseech him,marry us!-because men are slowly but surely depleting.Let's hold hands and save the boy child from the sharp claws of life that are threatening to reduce him to nothing.God loves and cares for him,so should we.In the end,the cat will meaow,but the dog will always have his way!
